On behalf of Mid & East Antrim Borough Council, welcome to the Digital Public Information Platform for the Carrickfergus City Deal Regeneration Project. The £42m Carrickfergus City Deal project is a tourism and regeneration project aiming to transform Carrickfergus into a heritage led tourism destination and the ‘Gateway to the Causeway Coastal Route’.
The £42m transformative project is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Carrickfergus that will drive inclusive growth and provide a significant economic boost for Mid and East Antrim. It is anticipated that over 150 jobs will be created in attractions, along with more than 140 construction jobs during the project.
This much-needed investment in Carrickfergus will regenerate, reposition and rebrand the town to place it firmly on the map as an authentic heritage-led tourism hub and the ‘must visit’ starting point of the internationally recognised Causeway Coastal Route.
Below you can view the concept proposals to date for the various project elements and complete an online feedback form to allow you to provide feedback based the designs. .
The information contained on this website and feedback forms provided are in addition to a series of public engagement workshops held in person at Carrickfergus Civic Centre / Town Hall. Invites will be issued in advance of each workshop via the Major Projects Team and advertised on their communication platforms.
Note that this series of engagement workshops is being carried out in advance of formal public consultation which will be further conducted prior to any planning applications being submitted. These workshops are intended to inform the design as it develops. This is an exciting opportunity for Carrickfergus and Mid & East Antrim Borough Council would encourage your participation to ensure the public are involved in the co-design of their town. Contact details of all respondents will be held confidentially in line with GDPR regulations.

What Happens Next?
This digital public information platform will be updated in advance of each public engagement workshop with the latest design proposals and relevant questions to gather focused feedback as the design develops.
We would ask that comments are submitted either via this website or to the Project Team directly at the in person events. Once all 6No. Public Engagement Workshops are complete and all of the feedback has been considered and any necessary changes made, the design team will proceed to submit a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to the Planning Authority to commence 12 weeks Statutory Consultation in advance of submitted a full planning application.
It is important to note that any feedback provided on this website is a representation to the applicant, and not to the planning departments in Mid & East Antrim Borough Council directly. If a planning application is subsequently submitted, normal neighbour notification and publicity will be undertaken, and you will have the opportunity to make formal representations regarding the proposal at that time.
If you have any difficulty accessing the information on this website, any difficulty using the feedback form or require hard copies of the presentation, please contact Sarah McDowell at Resolve Planning.
