The Carrickfergus Regeneration Project is a once-in-a-generation investment designed to help establish Carrickfergus as a must-visit destination and the gateway to the Causeway Coastal Route. Supported through the Belfast Region City Deal, the project aims to create attractive, welcoming public spaces, strengthen connections between the town centre and its historic landmarks, increase footfall, and support long-term regeneration of the area.
The updated design boards available here were presented to the public at the consultation event held on 23 April 2026 and provide the latest overview of how the proposals have developed. They set out the wider ambition behind the regeneration programme, including Castle Park plans, improved public realm, enhanced lighting, better pedestrian links, and new spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy. The proposals also include plans for a new Visitor Centre experience, improved access to Carrickfergus Castle, enhanced arts and culture spaces within the Civic Centre and Town Hall, and a renewed journey around the historic town walls. They are intended to celebrate Carrickfergus’ rich heritage while creating a stronger, more vibrant town centre for future generations.
Public feedback remains an important part of shaping the project, and these materials are being shared to help residents, businesses and stakeholders understand the vision and latest progress.
